🌿 about me

Hi there! I’m Sophie (she/her). I'm a ****PhD student in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin—Madison, where I am part of the MadS&P (Security & Privacy) group. I am advised by Professor Rahul Chatterjee.

I research human-centered security & privacy (S&P). In particular, I am interested in using qualitative and system-building methods to study S&P for marginalized/vulnerable populations and interpersonal aspects of S&P.

My primary research goal is to understand and mitigate technology-facilitated abuse in intimate partner violence (IPV). In parallel with my research, I coordinate and volunteer at the Madison Tech Clinic, which provides free tech consultations to local IPV survivors.

Recently, I have also begun to look at sharenting — the phenomenon where parents share information about or images of their children on social media. This work is in collaboration with the Center for Privacy and Security for Marginalized and Vulnerable Populations (PRISM).
